Pay for Camp

One of the reasons we chose to rent Camp Quaker Haven for The Refuge camps is because of its outdoor setting. With the exception of chapel and meal times The Refuge programs will take place outside – in the pool, in the forest, along the river, in the field, on the court, down the giant slide, and under the pavilions. This, in and of itself, minimizes COVID 19 risks. In addition, our program focuses on cabin groups experiencing the day together which means that campers will spend significant portions of their day with a consistent group of people.

Meet the Young Teen Camp Staff

Boris Pena

Camp Speaker
Boris Pena

Hello! My name’s Boris Pena. I’m the youth pastor at the Platteville Free Methodist Church in Platteville, Wisconsin. I am so excited to speak at young teen camp! I was born in the Dominican Republic, an island in the Caribbean. I was raised in Aurora, Illinois the second biggest city in Illinois! I love Jesus, playing guitar and singing. I also love hiking and adventuring! When I can’t be outside you’ll find me coding or playing video games. I like to think I’m a funny guy but my youth group doesn’t think so.

Charis Ball

Worship Leader
Charis Ball

My name is Charis Ball. I graduated from Central Christian College of Kansas in May of 2020 (#classofCOVID). I am originally from Bristow, OK but am currently working as the Worship Minister at McPherson Free Methodist Church. I love to worship the Lord and enjoy singing and making music with any and everyone! There is something so sweet and strengthening about a place where the Lord is being worshiped by many, together! I love spending time outdoors and trying to be adventurous (even though I’m a major planner). I surrendered my life to Jesus and accepted Him as my Lord and Savior in June of 2013 at a youth camp in Oklahoma. If you want to make my day, bring me a donut or a cup of coffee and you’ll be one of my best friends forever!

Ahren Turner

Worship Leader
Ahren Turner

Hey, this is Ahren Turner. I am a junior at McPherson College studying Education. I am originally from Hemphill, Texas and am currently serving on the worship team at McPherson Free Methodist Church. I love playing games, sports, and music, all of which are my favorite ways to worship the Lord. I became a Christian when I was 12 years old at a Free Methodist church camp in Louisiana. I am passionate about discipleship and enjoy times of fellowship and growing with other believers.
