Program Staff Position Descriptions

Activity Director

The Activities Director is responsible for planning and executing the large activities during camp. They are responsible to oversee some of the  high school aged activities staff. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Plan Kid’s Camp and Young Teen Camp  relay mania, large group activities, night activities, and assist with YTC Guys/Girls Night
  • Provide a list of needed supplies by supplied deadlines
  • Set up and execute the activities
  • Oversee the A-Team along with the Rotation Director
  • Clean up, organize, and inventory game supplies

Head Counselor Female & Male

The head counseling role is responsible for providing care and support for the counseling staff throughout the week. Some responsibilities are as follows:

  • Check in with counselors regularly to provide prayer, counsel, and encouragement as needed.
  • Advise counselors with camper intervention or discipline as needed
  • Serve as the primary communication  avenue between the Executive Team and the counselors during the week
  • Lead individual choice and/or bunker rotation activities as assigned

Crafts Lead

This person should be a fun crafty person to plan and run craft times during camp. There are five main craft times throughout the week for each camp. As well as a variety of open craft room times that will need basic self-paced craft options. The primary crafts in the past have ranged from popsicle stick frames to tie-dyed bandanas and everything in between. The open craft room times can be things like bracelet making, cards, coloring, or things more advanced. 

Registrar 

This position is responsible for tracking and communicating to those who are registering for camp. This position is the primary support system for our churches and families as they are working to register and submit needed documentation for camp. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Registration update Monthly or as requested 
  • Check P.O. Box 532 in McPherson, KS.
  • Deposit mailed registrations or donations as needed
  • Weekly Process registrations
  • Data entry
  • Confirmation email & attachments
  • Track forms received
  • Communicate with bookkeeper
  • Financial balance and check-in email
  • Organize Check-In Day materials
  • Required technological skills: at least a working knowledge of excel and or google sheets. Google Forms is a plus. 

Camp Promotion- Kansas

This position is responsible for communicating and promoting The Refuge Camp within their region. This role is vital for the success of camp and is one of the primary ways the Refuge can support the families in our conference. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Oversee camp promotion in the Kansas/Nebraska/Missouri Area
  • Visit at 5 churches to promote The Refuge
  • Promotion topics include prayer partners, camper registration, finding volunteers, and financial partners
  • Communicate with the Executive Team/Camp Director what other forms of support to promote camp would be beneficial for the churches and families.

Rotation and Choice Director

The Rotation and Choice Director is responsible for planning and executing the individual choice, and bunker rotations for each camp during the week. They also are responsible to oversee some of the high school aged activities staff. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Plan Kid’s Camp and Young Teen Camp bunker rotations, individual choice activities,  and YTC Girls Night
  • Provide a list of needed supplies
  • Set up and execute the activities
  • Oversee the A-Team along with the Activities Director
  • Clean up and organize game supplies

Nurse

The qualified candidate would be an RN, LPN, CNA, PA. They are responsible for the intake, and distribution of prescribed medications as prescribed. As well as administering basic first aid to campers and staff. They are on call throughout the week. We are looking for at least one licensed nurse and another person competent in basic first aid to help the nurse throughout the week.

Assistant Nurse

This role is someone who is confident in administering basic first aid and can serve as support staff to the nurse. They are also on call throughout the week. 

Digital Media & Website

This is a position where ability to serve during camp week can be optional. 

This position would oversee the camp website and digital media promotion. Ideally they would also lead the media team during camp. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Website maintenance and oversight
  • Developing annual camp branding. Including but not limited to: digital and print resources, posters, graphics, videos, and the media kit
  • Preferred skills include: photography/videography, photo and video editing, basic understanding of WordPress

Treasurer

This position is responsible for tracking The Refuge Camp finances. Their support is vital for the proper stewardship of camp budget, funds, and donations. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Communicate with registrar
  • Track scholarships
  • Financial balance info
  • Categorize spending
  • Monthly income/expense report
  • Check PayPal or online payment portal
  • Required technological skills: at least a working knowledge of excel and or google sheets. Google Forms is a plus.

Camp Promotion- Oklahoma

This position is responsible for communicating and promoting The Refuge Camp within their region. This role is vital for the success of camp and is one of the primary ways the Refuge can support the families in our conference. Basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • Oversee camp promotion in the Oklahoma area.
  • Visit at least 5 churches to promote The Refuge
  • Promotion topics include prayer partners, camper registration, finding volunteers, and financial partners
  • Communicate with the Executive Team/Camp Director what other forms of support to promote camp would be beneficial for the churches and families.
